TITLE: CREW FOREMAN – EXCAVATING
REPORTS TO: OPERATIONS MANAGER
Position Summary
The position is the lead on multiple job sites. The Crew Foreman is responsible for the crew and their productivity. The crew ensures excavating projects are correctly implemented. The Foreman directs the team and performs the functions utilizing blueprints, tools and mechanized equipment to fulfill the duties of the job in accordance with the plans and instructions for the specific job. The Foreman provides real time feedback to the crew and is focused on continuous improvement as well as employee engagement.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Supervise and monitor around the clock operation and excavating
- Knowledge and ability of reading plans
- Ensures the safety of the crew and surrounding public
- Recognize a safe trench
- Understanding of line and grade
- Keep job site clear and always organized
- All tasks related to the removal, replacement or placement of infrastructure (i.e. various types of pipe, conduit, manholes, curb and gutter, concrete, asphalt, etc.)
- Load, unload and secure materials and equipment from trucks using several methods, i.e. by hand or by using various loading equipment.
- Drive sheathing, break and remove concrete etc.
- May shovel and remove dirt and snow.
- Perform excavation, placement and replacement of infrastructure and materials at or below grade (i.e. utility trenches).
- Oversee preparation and application of mixes such as sand, cement, sealant, deicing chemicals.
- Assign crew members in the tagging and flagging of heavy equipment, including cranes, and assist with traffic control on the job to ensure productivity and safety.
- Operate winches, pumps and hoists and other mechanical equipment.
- Operate heavy power tools such as jack hammer, cement mixer, concrete saw and other tools as needed.
- Responsible for the safe driving and operation of trucks and construction equipment including: skid-steer, trucks, snow plows, compactors and other equipment as assigned.
- Supervise and perform daily inspection and maintenance checks on vehicle(s) and machinery/equipment used. Perform and make daily routine inspection and adjustments/minor service work on equipment/machinery utilized, including the attachment connection to the equipment such as cleaning, washing, greasing and lubricating.
- Maintain clean and orderly trucks and equipment.
- Measure, estimate, calculate, and record materials used on the job to ensure accurate assessment. Document accurate daily job reports.
- Determine machinery and equipment capabilities to accomplish specific job site needs, including determining equipment rental needs.
- Participate in safety meetings, right to know training and tool-box meetings, participate in workplace accident and injury reduction programs and other OSHA mandated training.
- Demonstrate a willingness to respond to varied work assignments, flexible working hours, including evenings, nights, weekends. May be required to work a reasonable amount of overtime, an alternate work week or shift and participate in emergency response as needed.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Minimum of 4 years of Operator excavating working experience
- Supervisory experience

- Minimum valid Class A with towing over 10,000 lbs vehicle license
- Confined Space Entry Certification
- Complete Competent Person Training Certification

TITLE: LABORER
Reports to: Foreman
Position Summary
Perform non-skilled and skilled manual labor, drive trucks to support the construction and maintenance activities. In addition, the Laborer keeps in mind safety, quality, productivity and efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- All tasks related to the removal, replacement or placement of infrastructure (i.e. various types of pipe, conduit, manholes, curb and gutter, concrete, asphalt, etc.)
- Load, unload and secure materials and equipment from trucks using several methods, i.e. by hand or by using various loading equipment.
- Drive sheathing, break and remove concrete etc.
- May shovel and remove dirt and snow, mow grass and trim brush.
- Perform excavation, placement and replacement of infrastructure and materials at or below grade (i.e. utility trenches)
- Prepare and apply mixes such as sand, cement, sealant, deicing chemicals.
- Work with crew members in the tagging and flagging of heavy equipment, including cranes, and assist with traffic control on the job to ensure productivity and safety. May be required to flag traffic at, around or through a fixed or mobile work zone.
- Operate winches, pumps and hoists and other mechanical equipment.

Position Summary
The position is responsible for operating a wide variety of construction equipment and attached mechanical devises used in construction and maintenance work. Perform skilled and manual labor in the repair and maintenance of excavating infrastructure. Will also work in the yard area to stockpile and move materials as needed. In addition, the Operator keeps in mind safety, quality, productivity and efficiency.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Responsible for the safe operation of heavy and light construction equipment, and trucks including but not limited to general and specialized equipment:
- Hydraulic backhoes, front end loaders, rollers, dozers, skid-steer loaders, rollers, trucks, snow plows and sweepers, vac trailers, compaction equipment, off-road truck and other equipment
- Ensures the safety of the crew and surrounding public
- Operate winches, pumps and hoists and other mechanical equipment.
- Responsible for the safe driving and operation of trucks and other equipment as assigned.

- Measure, calculate and record quantities of materials used and/or work performed.
- May function as lead worker coordinating and monitoring work progress of crew or work group.
- Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment, including attachment connection to the equipment, such as cleaning, washing, greasing, and lubricating. May need to refer major problems to the supervisor.
- Properly follow all company policies and procedures for safe working procedures and environment. Report any problems to the Foreman, Superintendent, or Safety Manager.
- Regular and predictable attendance at assigned times is required.
- Perform daily inspection and maintenance checks on vehicle(s) and machinery/equipment used. Perform and make daily routine inspection and maintenance checks on vehicle(s) and machinery/equipment used; and record and file daily records of vehicle/equipment condition and/or mechanical problems.

- Must maintain a Class D Driver’s License

TITLE: TRUCK DRIVER
Reports to: Foreman or Operations Manager
Position Summary
The position is responsible for driving dump trucks to transport dirt, aggregate, and other materials and/or equipment to various job site locations. Will also work in the yard area to stockpile and move materials as needed. In addition, the Truck Driver keeps in mind safety, quality, productivity and efficiency.

- Ensures the safety of the crew and surrounding public
- Operate winches, pumps and hoists and other mechanical equipment.
- Responsible for the safe driving and operation of trucks and other equipment as assigned.
- Performs daily pre/post trip inspections with appropriate documentation in compliance with DOT guidelines.
- Checks fluid levels, tires, lights, and other controls for safe operation.
- Keeps accurate log of deliveries, load counts, and completes required paperwork for billing.
- Load, unload, and secure equipment or materials.
- Monitor various gauges during operation of vehicle.
- Assure product quality to the best of the Driver’s ability.
- Perform minor servicing and maintenance of equipment; refer major problems to the supervisor.
